BYD Introduces a Double Entry of New eBus Innovation at Busworld 2023

Brussels, Belgium – BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEV) introduces two new eBus innovations at Busworld 2023 held at Brussels Expo, Belgium. From Hall 7, Stand 705, the BYD 40-foot B12 eBus brings a new generation of integrated chassis technology to public transport operators in Europe. In addition, and making its world premiere at the BYD stand, is the 45-foot customizable pure-electric intercity double-decker coach; the BYD-UNVI DD13, an exciting collaboration between the pioneering BYD brand and renowned European coach bodybuild specialist, UNVI. These new buses join two established BYD models on show at Busworld 2023: the BYD eBus B19 (60-foot) and the 50-foot BYD eBus B15.

With BYD’s latest generation of 40-foot electric buses, BYD presents its revolutionary all-new pure-electric bus chassis which integrates the ultra-safe Lithium Iron Phosphate Blade Battery within the chassis structure. This groundbreaking Blade Battery Chassis technology also utilizes a new 6-in-1 controller with Silicon Carbide technology, together with two innovative wheel hub hairpin motors. Combined, these bring a multitude of benefits to BYD’s 40-foot eBus including enhanced energy efficiency, performance and durability. The Blade Battery, with a maximum capacity of 500kWh, delivers an exceptional range in one charge reducing the need for regular charging, making the BYD eBus B12 an excellent choice for busy bus routes.

BYD Motors, Cox Automotive Announce Groundbreaking Service Partnership in U.S. Market

PASADENA, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2023) – BYD Motors and Cox Automotive announced today the two companies have entered into a service agreement that covers BYD customers and their growing fleets of class 6 and class 8 trucks within the United States with 24/7 roadside support and a nationwide network of EV-trained service technicians.

“This agreement with a nationally respected fleet services leader in Cox Automotive bolsters the confidence of our customers and gives new customers assurance their service needs will be addressed by the top professionals in the business,” said Audrey Li, BYD Vice President Operations. “We’re very excited by this announcement.”

Globally BYD has put over 85,000 heavy-duty battery electric vehicles into service, including more than 25,000 trucks. In the U.S. more than 500 of those trucks are already in service with customers from coast to coast. Operating from nearly 40 locations within the U.S., Cox Automotive Fleet Services offers more than 1,400 elite technicians, including the nation’s largest 24/7 emergency repair and towing service.

Steamship Authority Electrifies Fleet with BYD | RIDE Zero-Emission Buses

FALMOUTH, Ma. (9/25/23) – The Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority received its first three battery-electric buses from BYD | RIDE, a delivery that represents an important step in Steamship Authority’s journey toward sustainable zero-emission transportation. The milestone was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its administrative office in Falmouth.

“We are proud to partner with the Steamship Authority and are committed to providing them with reliable and eco-friendly solutions,” said Patrick Duan, Senior Vice President of BYD | RIDE. “The addition of the K9M buses will further enhance the environment and the surrounding communities by providing clean, zero-emission transportation.”

Steamship Authority, the largest ferry service to the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket from Cape Cod, will use the buses to provide transportation from offsite parking lots to the mainland ferry terminals in Hyannis and Woods Hole. The 40-foot K9M bus has a seating capacity of up to 37 passengers. All BYD | RIDE buses are equipped with industry’s safest battery technology.

“Welcoming these buses into service is an important first step of the Steamship Authority’s journey into the transition to cleaner transportation options,” Steamship Authority General Manager Robert B. Davis said at the ceremony. “We are excited to be among the first of what will be many agencies and municipalities making these investments in the coming years.”

The buses are purpose-built by members of the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation (SMART) Workers Union, Local 105, at the BYD | RIDE Coach and Bus Facility located in Lancaster, CA. BYD | RIDE is the only battery-electric bus manufacturer that has both a unionized workforce and a Community Benefits Agreement, which sets goals for hiring veterans, single parents, second chance citizens, and others facing hurdles in obtaining manufacturing employment.

Capital Area Transit System (CATS) Expands Its Green Fleet with Six New BYD | RIDE Buses

BATON ROUGE, La. (9/12/23) – CATS, the Capital Area Transit System in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, welcomed six innovative BYD | RIDE zero-emission buses to its fleet. With the latest delivery, CATS will soon be operating a total of 15 battery electric BYD | RIDE buses, strengthening its commitment to environmentally friendly public transportation.

Dedicated to connecting passengers to what matters and going the “Extra Mile” to prioritize safety and security on its 23 bus routes, CATS prioritizes accessibility for all its passengers. Ensuring compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, all CATS buses come equipped with wheelchair lifts and various features designed to accommodate passengers with disabilities.

The newly acquired K7MER buses feature industry-leading battery technology and offer two ADA wheelchair-complaint positions. These 30-foot electric buses have a seating capacity of up to 20 passengers and a working range of up to 196 miles.

Burlington, North Carolina Becomes Battery-Electric with Delivery of Two BYD | RIDE Buses

Burlington, NC. (8/25/23) – BYD | RIDE delivered two K7M 30’ battery-electric buses to the City of Burlington in North Carolina to serve the passengers of its Link Transit Fleet.

The zero-emission BYD | RIDE buses will be utilized in Burlington’s public transit system, Link, which has five routes covering Burlington, Gibsonville, Elon, and Alamance Community College. The 30-foot buses fit up to 22 passengers and are equipped with the industry’s safest batteries, providing a smooth, quiet, and sustainable ride throughout its bustling city.

These buses and associated chargers were purchased off the State of Georgia statewide cooperative procurement which allowed the City of Burlington the ability to purchase in line with federal rules for the purchases of transit vehicles under 49 U.S.C. § 5323(u), administered within the guidelines of the Federal Transit Administration.

“BYD | RIDE applauds the City of Burlington for making the transition to clean, zero-emission transportation,” said BYD’s Senior Vice President, Patrick Duan. “We are thrilled they chose our K7M to help redefine the future of transportation by transitioning to green technology.”

The City of Burlington increased accessibility to clean transportation and mobility by connecting its pedestrian walkways, greenways and bikeways to the Link bus stops, where passengers can ride on a zero-emission BYD | RIDE bus.

BYD YUAN PLUS Clinches Brazil’s ‘Best Buy 2023’ Award

São Paulo, Brazil (August 22, 2023) – In August 2023, Brazil’s leading automotive magazine, ‘Quatro Rodas’, announced the ‘Best Buy 2023’. Rising above its competitors in the electric vehicle category under 300,000 reais, the BYD YUAN PLUS clinched the top honor.

São Paulo played host to the 23rd grand annual award gala by Quatro Rodas. The BYD YUAN PLUS, having made significant progress as a hot seller for BYD in Brazil, clinched the award. This accolade is a testament to its groundbreaking tech prowess and unmatched product might, underlining BYD’s leading position in the new energy auto sector.

The BYD YUAN PLUS is the first A-class model built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0. It’s powered by BYD’s ultra-safe Blade Battery, promising a maximum pure electric range of 458km under NEDC conditions.
