Lancaster, Calif. (05/014/19) – BYD (Build Your Dreams) announced plans to partner with Apparent Inc to develop a two megawatt solar and two megawatt hour energy storage project at its Lancaster Coach & Bus manufacturing plant, demonstrating the company’s mission to be a total green energy solution provider.
With Novato, Calif.-based Apparent, BYD will own and operate the project utilizing BYD solar panels and batteries and Apparent’s intelligent grid operating software (igOS™). BYD Coach & Bus will buy power from the system under a 25-year agreement. The system is expected to be operational Fall of 2019.
The system showcases BYD’s commitment to a total green ecosystem with the ability to generate, store, and use zero-emission energy to power buildings as well as zero-emission vehicles.
Apparent’s igOS™ is the key to unlocking the total green solution – the sophisticated, predictive software identifies and signals to BYD’s battery system to charge during times of low demand and discharge during peak times. In this case, it allows BYD to save over $100,000/annually in energy with the same upfront costs.
“BYD is the only company that can provide complete, affordable solutions,” said BYD North America President Stella Li. “Not only can BYD provide battery-electric vehicles, it can also provide green energy generation and storage systems that will save customers money, especially during peak energy demand hours.”
BYD, as the leader in electric generation and transport, has tapped Apparent to provide enterprise software to enable a complete service solution. The Lancaster plant is the first official project that is a part of BYD and Apparent’s strategic partnership to help deploy more efficient zero emission energy.
“Apparent’s management services system is perfectly suited for BYD’s total green energy solution because it addresses customer demands in parallel with the energy market,” says Jacqueline DeSouza, President of Apparent. “Our partnership offers tailored zero emission energy solutions, that lower the total cost of energy for customers and improve its use—a triple win.”
