Fellow Employees and Partners,
Our bold little company has been receiving a lot of attention lately.
I want to let you know how very proud I am of the work you have done to make BYD a success. It is no surprise to me that we just landed our biggest overseas monorail order or that we just received the inaugural Select LA Foreign Direct Investment Award recognizing our impact on the regional economy and jobs in Southern California.
It is also no surprise to me that critics question our ability to deliver on our mission to change the world by creating a complete clean-energy ecosystem that reduces the world’s reliance on petroleum. We are unequivocally the leader of a movement that will reverse centuries of exploitation of our planet. The entrenched fossil fuel industry leading that exploitation will stop at nothing in their efforts to slow down our progress.
Rest assured, nothing can slow down BYD’s ability to deliver on our mission. Our product performance speaks for itself: our customers continue to order and re-order BYD buses. In fact, we have more than 35,000 buses deployed around the globe—and more are on the way. We have sold more than 700 battery-electric buses and trucks to customers in the U.S. and Canada, more than any other manufacturer.
Without technological entrepreneurs like BYD who are willing to push the envelope, we would be conceding the very viability of life as we know it. The use of fossil fuels must rapidly decrease in the face of insurmountable evidence of climate change. BYD has developed the very products that will replace our world’s reliance on fossil fuels.
And across the nation, our work moves forward. Today, the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) will receive their first of three buses.
It is undeniable that electrification is the cornerstone of our future. We’re glad you are here with us working to save our planet for future generations.
President, BYD Motors
