LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (2/11/2021) – Marena William, the recipient of BYD’s $5000 Build Your Dreams WTS (Women’s Transportation Seminar) scholarship, is on a mission to clean the air one vehicle at a time.
William, who is working towards a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on Transportation Electrification at the University of Southern California, is passionate about renewable, clean energy.
Her career goal after graduation is to initiate strategic initiatives to increase EV adoption around Los Angeles and launch a transportation electrification program for disadvantaged communities.
“Aside from my day-to-day job of managing and designing electric transportation projects, I mentor female college students who are interested in pursuing a degree in STEM or in clean transportation fields,” William said in applying for the BYD scholarship. “I volunteer in community events to teach the public about how the mode of transportation they chose affects global warming and our carbon footprint, the various types of EVs in the market, and the federal and local incentives available to them if they want to drive a low or zero emission vehicle.”
William has a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Long Beach, with a double major in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical and Clinical Engineering. While at CSULB, William was on the Dean’s List and served as President of the Biomedical Engineering Society.
