At BYD we dream of a time when every day will be a clean air day and that’s why we join our partners at the Coalition for Clean Air celebrating today’s California Clean Air Day.
As a U.S. manufacturer of clean battery electric vehicles like buses and trucks, BYD (“Build Your Dreams”) supports efforts to make our air cleaner and our communities more livable. We’re doing it every day.
“We are proud to partner in this effort that reminds us all about the importance of our air quality,” said Stella Li, BYD President North America. “At BYD, we are committed to Clean Air Day today and every day.”
The BYD commitment to our community doesn’t end there.
BYD’s Lancaster, California manufacturing facility employs 750 men and women, many are members of the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Union, (SMART), Local 105. Our Community Benefits Agreement includes a commitment to hire veterans, single parents and the formerly incarcerated. Our partnership with the Antelope Valley Community College sets up apprenticeship programs so that people in our community can learn valuable skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
Globally, BYD has committed to the highest standards of corporate social responsibility, monitoring our supply chain in terms of human rights, environmental safety, hazardous substance control and intellectual property rights. BYD selects only suppliers who share our commitment to labor practices, human rights standards and the environment.
BYD’s heavy duty vehicle batteries, which utilize a proprietary Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry are the safest on the road today. Innovative technology forms the core of our American buses and trucks.
We hope you join us and the Coalition for Clean Air in celebrating California Clean Air Day — #CleanAirDayCA.
