VIENTIANE, LAOS (12/27/2021) – The first HAN EV was delivered to the Prime Minister’s Office of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Vientiane, the nation’s capital of Laos by BYD’s local dealer MOK. Khamjane Vongphosy, Minister and Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Mango Wan, the CEO of MOK, both attended the delivery ceremony.

As BYD’s flagship model, the HAN EV features leading-edge technology, the ultra-safe blade battery, and can achieve 0 to 60 mph acceleration in just 3.9 seconds. It is believed that the HAN EV will bring a whole new business traveler experience to Laos.
“The Lao government will vigorously support the development of pure electric vehicles in the future,” Vongphosy said.
In 2020, Thongloun Sisoulith, the former Prime Minister of Laos, visited BYD’s Xi’an Industrial campus. The Lao government has recently been paying increasing attention to the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry and announced last October that all-electric vehicles will be prioritized for the procurement of government cars.
Last May, the Electricité du Laos (EDL) purchased its first batch of electric vehicles, including the BYD e2 BEV, for corporate use in Vientiane. The first 28 BYD NEVs (including 12 BYD C8 electric buses, 8 units BYD T5D electric light trucks and 8 units YUAN EV), were shipped in July. In September, BYD officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Loca, the largest ride-hailing service platform in Laos. In 2022, BYD plans to deliver 100 EVs to Laos.
