On Thursday March 19, 2020, Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered Californians to be “Safe at Home” until further notice. The measure is intended to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our state and in our community.
At BYD, the health and safety of our employees, customers and vendors has always been paramount. We have been closely monitoring developments with the coronavirus (COVID-19), and as you know, we have taken all reasonable and necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our team.
For now, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend production for the next two weeks or until we get further direction or information that allows us to safely resume our operations. California’s new reality also affects vendors in our supply chain who are also facing these unprecedented challenges.
Our aftermarket team will remain on the job, providing essential services and care to our public and private partners throughout the United States. Our non-production staff have already begun working remotely and is fully functioning, safe at home.
Given the nature of the situation, we anticipate a slowdown in logistics that will affect how soon we can receive or send parts. But rest assured, we will work to get parts to our customers as quickly as possible.
BYD and its employees appreciate the understanding of our customers and vendors as we work together to get through these next few weeks. Slowing the spread of the virus will ultimately keep us all safe.
No doubt we will face tests in the days ahead. As the official sponsor of Mother Nature, BYD’s goal is to responsibly return to production as soon as it is safely possible so that we can continue working together for better air quality in all of our communities.
