Singapore – Recently, BYD unveils Singapore’s first Blade Battery-powered bus at the fourth LTA-UITP Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition (SITCE 2022).
The SITCE is held every two years in the Asia-Pacific region. It is jointly organized by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, and MSI Global Pte Ltd. Themed on the ‘Heartbeat of Mobility’, the event explores ways to facilitate daily commutes and provide solutions for a safer, more inclusive, convenient, and sustainable public transport system. The event aims to bring urban mobility stakeholders together to redefine the public transport landscape.

BYD showcased its Q1R tractors and B12A03 electric buses at the three-day exhibition. The battery’s layout of the Q1R tractor is adjusted for enhanced safety performance, battery capacity, and endurance. Carrying capacity is also greatly improved, with the electronic controls upgraded to a five-in-one system. The B12A03 bus, a model BYD specially designed for the Singapore market, is configured as a 12-meter full-low-floor bus with three doors. Adopting a fourth-generation aluminum body, the bus is also the first pure electric bus equipped with the Blade Battery.
As one of the 62 companies invited, BYD launched its strategy for Public Transport Electrification back in 2010. Continuous technological innovations and breakthroughs have enabled BYD’s commercial vehicles to amass an extensive global footprint on six continents, including more than 70 countries and over 400 cities. BYD has established a complete industrial chain of commercial vehicles that integrates planning, research and development, design, production, sales, and after-sales services. It has manufactured commercial vehicles that cover the following market segments: buses, coaches, taxis, logistics, construction and sanitation, as well as vehicles for warehousing, seaport, airport, and mining operations.

BYD’s booth welcomed visitors from over 3000 companies and clients with the B12A03 serving as the main attraction. Key clients in attendance included the Land Transport Authority, SMRT Corporation Ltd, National University of Singapore, ComfortDelgro Bus, Leisure Frontier, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Tower Transit. Q1R tractors also attracted many key clients from logistics industries such as Precast Concrete, YCH, Call Lade, Chu Kong, Port of Singapore Authority, and Einride Swedish Logistics. So far, the Q1R has earned 50 intent orders, and the B12A03 has gained 400 votes from the Land Transport Authority.
In the field of public transportation, BYD utilizes advanced technologies in commercial vehicles through continuous research and innovation. Targeting different public transportation sectors, BYD is devoted to providing more reliable pure-electric solutions for the market by creating safer, more comfortable, intelligent, and efficient electric commercial vehicles. In addition, BYD plans to offer new ideas for the future of green urban mobility and transportation.
